A group of file sharers, rippers and burners, copier and pasters in Sweden have formed a new political party to stand in Swedish elections and fight intellectual property law. I hope they will be copied. :-)© We know the arguments, becuase we share them. No pun intended. You may not say an idea is your property. & to treat it as such, in a time of starvation and disease is evil. https://www.piratpartiet.se/ read full story / add a comment

Abortion has become a central issue in the forthcoming general election in Italy. Berlusconi’s government has set up a review into the application of the present law, which allows abortion within the first three months of pregnancy. If unchallenged the results will be deeply damaging for Italian women. Less than 24 hours after making a key note speech to a meeting of Spain's armed forces, Lt. General Jose Mena Aguado has been placed under house arrest for 8 days as a "first measure" for suggesting armed action against Catalonia. He thus overstepped his position as a member of the military, and now enjoying support from the right wing opposition (PP) the incident takes on worrying implications for European Democracy. ____________________________________ read full story / add a comment

♣‡ In 1988 Pat Robertson's 'Christian Coalition' controlled 40% of the delegates at the Republican Convention and helped to put George W's father into the White House. Today he continues to represent a genocidal cocktail of American Ultra-Nationalism and Charismatic 'Christian' Fundamentalism in support of extreme elements of Israeli Zionism. He's a whack-job, but too important to ignore. read full story / add a comment

The forces that divide humanity issue from religion, tribalism, racism and self-interest. The fact that right wing groups emphasise the ‘virtues’ of these principles clearly identifies their support base and driving principles. It would seem obvious that an assault on the principles that create undesirable circumstances is preferable to dealing with the (disastrous) consequences after the event. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Right-wing nations are now utilising their new ‘anti-terrorist’ laws. Activists are being targeted and arrested in the US and Australia – who is next? The following information may prove useful in the event of arrest. A ‘friend of mine’ was recently detained for questioning by state police; his experiences were similar to those of others in the milieux. Familiarisation with the procedures and methodologies of our ‘regulatory authorities’ is invaluable in the event of arrest or detention. read full story / add a comment |
