Spain and Portugal?s Blackout Reveals the Achilles? Heel of Electricity Grids Dominated by Wind and ... Tue Apr 29, 2025 17:00 | Anonymous Engineer
The power outage in Spain and Portugal wasn't caused by extreme weather, but by an over-reliance on wind and solar. If the UK continues on its headlong path to Net Zero, we can expect similar failures.

An Excess of Pity: Why We Fail to Deport Those Whom We Should Deport Tue Apr 29, 2025 15:00 | Dr David McGrogan
Why do we fail to deport those whom we should deport? It's due in the end, says Dr David McGrogan, to an excess of pity. We are pitying ourselves into disorder and social decay. We need to be willing not to be nice.

of the Kingdom of Sweden stated-
"I will defend freedom of the press no matter what the circumstances, but I strongly condemn the provocation by SD-Kuriren. It displays a complete lack of respect,"
"It is deplorable that a small group of extremists expose Swedish citizens and Swedish interests to clear danger. Considering the current inflamed atmosphere, I take a very serious view of this. This is a small group without support in our country.
"I apologise that there are a few individuals in Sweden who are so callous and who consciously insult other people's religion.
"I am ashamed that there are extremists in our country who - in the name of freedom of the press - try to exploit those rights we consider so important to offend other people and, in addition, cultivate a conflict where all our energy should now be focused on finding a solution."

cat got your tongue in viking land?
Finland has shut a site for reproducing the images, whilst the Swiss have decided to apply their hate laws as well. Ireland has been thanked by its muslim community for not republishing the cartoons, and Austria (even Austria) which saw one cartoon published last week has also decided to apply its hate laws.
It is most odd that cartoons can get people so "excited". There might be another agenda...
Maybe both the Swedish and Finnish state wanted those sites closed all along, and the cartoons just proved to be an excuse. We'd have to ask Michael Mc Dowell and others. Certainly the decision to "draw a line" on this affair, and return to the discussion of "proper politics" seems like a "good idea". We know the Iranians are rabidly anti-jewish and anti-zionist and their cartoons ought not be reproduced, and indeed would breach indymedia ireland guidelines if they were published here.
But many in europe would like to reprint them, and many others in the name of "free speech" will pave the way for their appearance and the "discussion" which will then be had - "revisionism".
I'm sick to the back teeth of this whole thing. I want you to read about the EZLN "other campaign" and the forthcoming Peruvian elections instead. I want you to respect your fellow citizens and how their identities are constructed.
But I'm beginning to despair, and right now think I'll stop writing on this site.
There comes a stage when one is finally tired of casting pearls before swine.
\"for flaming hatred the swedes have closed today a far-right site for republishing images which are offensive to both muslims and europeans\"
Flaming hatred?
Let readers of this site determine whether this image was sufficiently hate fuelled to warrant the intervention of the Swedish government.
More like total moral cowardice and craven appeasement.
