Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5this is a disgrace. your narrowminded views are unwanted by all but a tiny minority. you seem to want to relive the old days of midless violence. grow up, you are a pathetic bunch, who do even understand the current social or political climates. you will not succeed with this propaganda, the people united will never be defeated. and you, do not serve the people.
The pretext that these individuals represent "True Republicanism" if not so serious would be a joke. The heroes from the past that these people are trying to emulate would be turning in their graves. The "repression" they talk about is of their own making. The conditions are in place for every shade of political view point to have an equal footing. Anyone as long as they persue peaceful means can have their say and argue their possition. The sad point for me is that a lot of RSF's social views are ones that I could go allong with, this country needs an opposition to the right wing assembly, but dragging us all back to the past of killing and mayhem is too high a price to pay. If RSF has any confidence in the support they have why not take the leap into the 21st century.
Whether people agree or not with the killing of the colonial soldiers and police they should be able to stand up against repression. Collective punishment by colonial forces for the actions of a small number of people has been unfortunately standard through much of modern history but is wrong for all that.
It's times like these that show who the genuine anti-imperialists are and who are not. The area in question is one of the most deprived in the Six Counties and some people seem content to let them suffer. What is really sickening is to justify that repression or to ignore it.
This story is propaganda at its worst. There is no factual references and it is misleading. Here is two questions for the author,Firstly can you tell me the last time a British Soldier fired a shot at an Irish national and the second question is Who is the only group shooting and terrorizing Irish nationals.
The answer to the first question is long before the 1994 agreement so why are republicans now shooting soldiers.
The only people shooting and terrorizing Irish citizens are Republicans. FACT!
I now see your war mongering has caused the devastation of 3 families and the liberty of two young men who have now been charged. Sounds like republican progress?
The author of this article should read some real books, ones that involved great people who fought real oppression such as Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and JFK to name a few. They all refer to love, peace and unity.
My point being, the only way to unify Ireland is to unify its people. Take heart from the Ireland Rugby team, no division just one team followed by happy citizens north and south.
"Insanity is trying the same method over and over again, and hoping for a different outcome" : (Albert Einstein) Armed struggle has already been tested and failed!
I still say we should oppose British colonialist oppression. References to public and historic figures does not change that, but since we're going there it would be worth examining which of the three names was genuinely against imperialism and what happened to him.
