There's method in Trump's tariff madness, says Ramesh Thakur. Uniting his America First, anti-Net Zero and anti-DEI policies is an imperative to untangle the US from strategic dependence on an ascendant China.

everybody get together

category national | miscellaneous | opinion/analysis author Friday July 11, 2003 17:14author by depp Report this post to the editors

meeting desirable

how about everybody who regularly reads or contributes to indymedia get together, and invite everyone else...

a grand meeting/ series of meetings .....
somewhere in the midlands.... all welcome..... friends and foes.. for some good old fashioned talking

NO prior agenda other than to discuss the creation of a better society/ community/ country/ world

no existing organisations taking over the show

everybody equal, everybody entitled to have their say

Leave your ego at home
Leave your lectures at home
Leave your hatchets at home
Leave your group loyalties at home

Nobody's going to Win on their own
To make RADICAL progress the people have to come together (and do more than walk down the street)

Good initiative deep. I certainly would not be against it. I would imagine that the majority of Indymedia "participants" are Dublin based, so might be better to meet somewhere in the city, at least on the first occasion anyhow - though I know its a bollix that everything seems to happen in Dublin.

I wonder if anything like this is done in other countries?

I think the geographical spread is not so Dublin biased?

Anyway my idea would be if something like this were to happen then it could become a more regular occurence at a more local level, so Dublin city dwellers could meet there whenever they want.

My initial idea would be for a nationwide gathering.

So you want to fuck off to the country and sit around talking bolloxs for weekend - off you go..............

author by Anonymouspublication date Fri Jul 11, 2003 19:24author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Fuckin' off to the pub with your mates (while highly enjoyable mais bein sur), is the place where bollix is talked about - doing something like as has been suggested is a positive thing, that can only lead to good things.

Though regarding depp's last point:-

"Nobody's going to Win on their own
To make RADICAL progress the people have to come together (and do more than walk down the street)"

It is my hope that through the local social forums, the ISF, ESF & WSF - which "victory" and real local, national & world progress will be made. Though what has been suggested is of course a social forum in itself.

Right, I think its time to talk real bollix for a while in a local watering hole. I'm sure i'll wake up feeling totally refreshed and ready to change the world :)

While of course not everyone is from Dublin (me included), Dublin may be the easiest venue, I suspect it has the highest concentration of indyheads and as well is basically the epicenter of public transport. If ya put it in midlands i suspect that fewer are likely to attend as its harder to acess and requires more people to travel.
now Kates 2 cents!

Might head along myself too. Will be good to hear what others have to say, and add my own voxpop too. It will also be good to be able to meet 'Durutti', and put a face and name to the person, since for some reason, he's not 'man' enough to tell us who he is, what organisation (if any) he is involved with etc...

yeah, why don't we all go off to the boglands where we can't corrupt any other impressionable minds, and then they can truck over the dishes from GCHQ-UK and microwave us at a safe distance where no innocents may be contaminated... the Dept of Misinformation may even pump out the latest Adbusters CD for an ironic touch and really fuck with our minds...
Think I'm a paranoid type? Be wary of the vague double-talk... there are people paid to disrupt us...

Sounds brillant. A bunch of hippy gibberish brought to you to by depp they guy who makes anonymous sound profound.

Newsflash fuckwit the left is utterly useless at getting stuff done and you want to have what? A fucking "be in"?

You are such a fucking tool

I think its a good idea but...

"NO prior agenda other than to discuss the creation of a better society/ community/ country/ world"

...is a bit too broad for my liking. Solving the world's problems in a weekend. Yeah right.

What about starting with what people feel they can contribute to the Indymedia project and take it from there?

Are you kidding me?? You cant win alone and you cant win with a bunch of leftsit sects. WE do NOT need to work together to win,we need to otganise the workingclass! I dont give a fuck about what the other leftist organisations is doing. Get real.

If you got a job you'd realise that. You're using Marxist 19C terminology.

Wake up, you fool, there is no 'class' anymore. Don't you read Hello magazine?

author by mr. aggropublication date Sun Jul 13, 2003 00:35author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Well there's certainly no working class down in the bogs of north Mayo where they're all scabbing their pseudo-Gaeltacht grants and living the life of Reilly with the contents of the brown paper envelopes from Brussels .....

Bejaysus, even Karl Marx never dreamed up such a Utopia ....

Money for nathin', and de sheep for free .....

author by Seáinínpublication date Sun Jul 13, 2003 02:39author address author phone Report this post to the editors

I don't think that was called for. :-(

author by mr. aggropublication date Sun Jul 13, 2003 12:40author address author phone Report this post to the editors

It bloody well was called for .... the plain people of Ireland are busting a gut working to make ends meet, being fleeced for taxes and ripped off by the inflated property market ....

Meanwhile up there up there in North Mayo we have a Utopia the likes of which Karl Marx in his wildest dreams never imagined ..... the euros falling like manna from heaven .... of course the luxurious life of Reilly of the "poor mouth" peasantry in our "disadvantaged regions" is all well concealed from the rest of the world ......

Ye probably have some scam to get free Internet access as a "disadvantaged region" ... "ah sur can't afford de price of a compuher for de childer" ....... and then ye come on-line and think ye can insult everybody else ......

Well if ye're dishing it out, ye'll have to take it when others lash back .....

I didnt post the piece above and I wonder if that was really King Mob. I would attend in a positive spirit, I just hope that the SP wont come along and try to take over or wreck the event. (If they cant control something then they will try to destroy it.)

Seanin, ignore that fuckwit. Yep, just igonoreit. His piece was so dumb the only answer it deserves is abuse.
