Why Labour Might Be About to Lose the Runcorn By-Election: Because it Hates its Own Voters Tue Apr 29, 2025 07:00 | Steven Tucker
Reform is favourite to win the Runcorn and Helsby by-election, overturning Labour's 14,700 majority. Why? It might have something to do with having the nation's third-highest number of asylum seekers, says Steven Tucker.

The Heading says it ALL .
No he is no fool and as regards to his feet don`t be so sizeist!
He has policed many protests , he is an old hand and I have always found him to be was up for the craic.
Is this there were indy has descended to? Double entendres at the expence of serious issues.....
failing to see the relevance of this video......
I've had a lot of interaction with this guy over 8 years....
The first one I remember happened while I was leaning on a bus shelter in downtown Dublin half awake, waiting for a bus home after an my early morning daily (Pit Stop Ploughshares) bail sign on at Pearse St following a long night shift at a homeless shelter. All of a sudden his face was inches from mine smiling...couldn't work out if it was an attempt at intimidation or an attempt to be friendly.
I responded with " Good Morning!".
He remained silent and walked off.
Some years later, following a "Residents Against Racism" action he asked me if I ever read "On the Beach"?
I said "No, but there was a Hollywood movie made in Melbourne in the '50's or early '60's, that I had never seen. It's refered to "as the movie made about the end of the world, made at the end of the world!"'
He then asked me about the "communist threat?
I said looking around locally, and internationally, it looks like an exhausted threat to me and not to lose any sleep over it.! I'd be more worried about the Irish road toll.
I bumped into him on another occassion him off duty on Grafton St.
Bit like running into a school teacher in the holiday season when you're a kid (there's a great scene to that effect in "The Wire" when the young black crims bump into the cops who are usually chasing them with their respective dates at the movies) . and we had a good friendly chat
..............last time we interacted, I was standing outside a Dublin bank in June '10, holding a placard with a scriptual quote "Woe to the Rich!" (with the scriptual refrence I can't remember now).
He came up and said "So, we are going all scriptual now are we?"
I replied "Whaddya mean mate "Sword into Plowshares"/ Pit Stop Ploughshares, Isaish 2/ Micah 4...nothing new there!"
The interactions over the last few years have been friendly enough...but you have to be careful not to expose any intel harmful to yourself or others...you live and learn on that front, make mistakes, and learn from those mistaks.
Never open your mouth (byond what's legally requird..name, address etc, once arrested or in custody, or rsponding to a request "to help the police with their enquiries"...just maks your court case easir for the prosecutors and easier for them to depoliticise the court scene
The @ left often make the mistake of concentrating their rage on the coppers/ the MORE VISIBLE UNIFORMS.
The coppers are the grunts, they are a distraction, ignore them if you can't bring yourself to be civil to them....you really want to express your rage and grief to the the LESS VISIBLE SUITS - bankers, pollies, bureaucrats etc. By using the cops/soldirs/uniforms as a therapeutic punching back (verbal or physical) you only unite the ranks rather encourage division and internal dissent that is always there...however small or big.
"Is this there were indy has descended to? Double entendres at the expence of serious issues.....
failing to see the relevance of this video......"
maybe it's just an attempt to "inject" a little humour into the situation and "ease the tension" :-)
Lighten up sourpuss. Civil disobedience (showing disrespect to overbearing authority) doesn't have to be violent. It can be done with ridicule too.
nice one Madame K
Thanks for the laugh there Madam K, badly needed in these dark days. More power to ya.
