It's that time of year again...

As in previous years may of the social justice organisations in Galway are combininmg resources to host events for Latin Amnerican Week in Galway. The Schedule is below and we are most grateful to the Huston School of Film& Digital Media for allowing us to host our film screenings in their great cinema venue.

Launch of Latin America week with a public talk
‘Cuban Agriculture and Food Sovereignty’

LATIN AMERICAN WEEK -FILM FESTIVAL:

Venue: Huston School of Film & Digital Media, NUIG

Thursday 16th @ 8pm:
‘Los cartoneros’ Argentina/UK and three New Latin American short films.
Friday 17th @ 8pm :
‘Tambogrande’ Peru/Canada and three new Latin American short films.

LATIN AMERICAN GUEST SPEAKERS FROM MEXICO &COLUMBIA:

Venue: Galway Public Library, Augustine St.

Alberta Carino Trujillo: from the organisation ‘No Maize, No Country’ Mexico

Film Screening hosted by Gort Vibes Co-op Film Club, in the Vec old building Gort @ 8PM - Linha de passe (Brazil)

Bia an Athais - Food awareness day - Gort Family Resource Centre from 1pm - 6 pm
With Gort vibes Co -op and Guest speakers an event that will explore ways to reclaim the right to access healthy food

Irish Legend.

The Brazilians who live in Gort may not realise that the word "Brazil" is an Irish word.

In ancient Irish legend Hy-Brazil was a mysterious island beyond the western horizon.

Once again this year Arus na Geal on Dominic Street will kindly host our Fiesta Maravillosa .
It will take place on the 20th of April and begin at 9.30 there will be Latino souds all night long....
