Big Street Party is planned for our return to Essex Street

Connolly Books and Connolly House have been given a well deserved make-over.
The Communist Party of Ireland has had their HQ at the site since the mid-70's. After a short sint in our temorary office and bookshop in the trendy Bloom Lane we return to our spiritual home in Essey Street Temple Bar.

Friday 23 February, 8:30–10 p.m.
Gala reopening of Connolly House ;43 East Essex Street

Connolly House—home of the Communist Party of Ireland, the Connolly Youth Movement, Connolly Books, the New Theatre and the Progressive Film Club, and meeting-place of the Ionad Buail Isteach and other social and cultural organisations—is reopening following its complete renovation. In addition to its previous resources, Connolly House now adds a coffee bar as well as the CPI Archives (under the direction of a professional archivist).

Address of welcome by the oldest and the youngest member of the party
Short address by the general secretary of the CPI, Eugene McCartan, and general secretary of the Connolly Youth Movement, Gareth Murphy
Formal opening by the national chairperson of the CPI, Lynda Walker
;Live music ;Film show;Refreshments
All are welcome

Good to hear you'll finally be back in Essex street. The coffee bar and the archive sound like good ideas. I'll make it to the opening if I can!

I saw the article about the reopening in 'Village' magazine and thought I'd check it out. But it was closed both Sunday and Monday. When do you open? Can a timetable of opening hours be put on the door?
And why is a book on the Koran taking pride of place in your shopfront? Why not a copy of 'Capital' or something related to Communism?
anyway, hope to visit soon.
