NCAD MA final show

category national | arts and media | opinion/analysis author Wednesday July 05, 2006 00:43author by Paula Geraghtyauthor email mspgeraghjty at yahoo dot ie Report this post to the editors

something different

I met people after and they asked, but was it art????

Another person said it's art if thats the context that it's made in.........

Again this show is over but I think it's worthwhile showing some examples of what's happenning in dublin, even if people can't go down to make their own mind up.

I took some images and participated in a work/show /performance by Augustine Donoghue who presented an MA show on a number of themes, roughly orientated around social movements in Columbia, the Gama dispute and the Irish famine......

Images 2 to 5 belong to the work of two other artists (http://www.indymedia.ie/article/76476)...........

Between the images of members of the Wheelock family, bricks being laid by Gama workers and a pot of fair trade coffee beans all of this screams progressive, liberal lefty something or other but what exactly was it? A series of installations or once off performances? Genuinely curious and interested, can you add some more details or maybe stick up a hundred words or so of a review for context and clarity? Fair play on the photos once again. And before some smart arse goes "it was a NCAD MA show" - I am aware of that, but I am interested in how the themes tied together and were given a coherant purpose in the eyes of an audience member. Good to see more of this arts and media stuff on Indy of late. Anyhoo, some pictures from many of the other student arty boho type exhibitions are below with the last link being to some discussion around student art shows in the various colleges on the hotpresssuckscore Thumped board.
