Connolly Soviet is opening a weekly comedy club, every Friday, at Ned Keenan's Bar, the Maple Hotel, 74\75 Lr. Gardiner St. on 30th March, doors open at nine. With less than a week to go before more than one million people will be hauled into court for breaking the law the Household Charge protest hs taken one more step closer to success. The only people who believe this tax is justifable are the same people who can well afford to pay this tax. While this government squeezes more and more out of the people politicians like Enda Kenny and Eamon Gilmore give themselves pay rises to compensate them for losses they incured through their so-called ''we are all in this together' cry of unity. Should one million people refuse to pay the cahrge before the deadline of the 31st Match, then this must be seen a s a sign of no confidence in this government and Irish politicians in general. read full story / add a comment

The Mahon Tribunal Report exposes endemic corruption in public life which was very evident for many years. Bertie Ahern had to deal with corruption surrounding the Charles Haughey era and now Micheal Martin has to deal with the corruption surrounding the Bertie Ahern era. The question is - is Micheal Martin going to break the systemic line of corruption or will the next leader of FF be dealing with his corruption? The most disturbing endemic corruption in this country is what happens to hundreds of people sucked into the legal system and it needs to be dealt with immediately. It is far more important as peoples lives are being detroyed. No ones life has been detroyed or will be destroyed with regard to the Mahon Report Corruption. read full story / add a comment

A new report shows just how extreme BNP members and supporters are: they believe in the use of armed force when defending the British way of life. This summary is from physorg.com . Far right supporters in the UK believe violent conflict between different religious, racial and ethnic groups is largely inevitable, according to a new survey on political extremism. From Voting to Violence? Far Right Extremism in Britain examines the beliefs of those identifying themselves as members of the British National Party, the English Defence League or the UK Independence Party. Examining a YouGov survey of 2,152 individuals, Dr. Matthew Goodwin, of The University of Nottingham’s School of Politics and International Relations, and the University of Salford’s Professor Jocelyn Evans found evidence that large numbers of BNP and UKIP supporters endorse the view that violence between different ethnic, racial and religious groups in Britain is largely inevitable, with much stronger agreement amongst the BNP group. Within the BNP sample, the study also found evidence of support for armed conflict when defending the British way of life. “It is current and former BNP members who are the most likely to think that violence may be needed to protect their group, and that inter-group violence is largely inevitable,” said Dr Goodwin. “In contrast, while significant numbers of supporters on the periphery of the extreme right adopt similar views, they are noticeably less extreme in their views than those who are at the core.” read full story / add a comment
