In November, significant Revenue data on tax reliefs was issued in response to Dáil Questions from Deputies Joan Burton, Richard Bruton and Paul McGrath. Last week, as if it was all a revelation to him, the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said that 'the game is up' for those who have paid little or no tax through availing of the many reliefs/schemes, which are undermining the taxation system. On Friday last, Mary Harney jumped on the bandwagon and said that individuals who earn more than €200,000 should pay a minimum of 20% in income tax. read full story / add a comment ![]()

As a regular commuter from Celbridge it has become apparent that the level of service has gradually deteriorated over the past month. After a series of 1 hour waits at the bus stop I phoned the controller for the 67 route this morning. He informed me that the service is getting progressively worse but there is nothing that can be done about it. Previously when a bus was running so late as to miss its departure time, another bus was sent from the garage to cover it. This is no longer possible, as an application has to be made to the Department of Transport, because running extra buses can be construed as anti-competition. Effectively then, any attempt by Dublin Bus to stick to its timetable is deemed as unfair to private operators! A similar thing happened on No Car Day, when Dublin Bus tried to lay on extra buses. Can it be merely coincidence that this downgrading of the 67 coincides with plans by Mortons (Circle Line) to introduce a "full" service from Celbridge in the New year? read full story / add a comment

If we look at capitalist pysch ops/military intelligence martial artists attempts at manifesting and directing bad chi at goats, to stop their hearts etc, theres no doubt these men, may have been highly skilled trained martial artist experts, but alas the consequence of directing and using bad chi, or directing chi with bad intentions, or a selfish greedy capitalist heart is you end up a sad miserable old git who looks like Pat mustard, with the personality, charm, sideboards and moustachio of a sadistic grubby paedophile loser. read full story / add a comment

Since the tragedy of September 11, Muslims in America have been expressing their patriotism more often than in the past. Virtually every Muslim organization and community has touted its American-ness. And rightfully so; we are Americans. Some of us were born here, and others are naturalized citizens. Many who are not yet American citizens certainly aspire to be. read full story / add a comment

New York State government is widely known to be dysfunctional. State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer seems determined to be part of the solution, rather than part of the problem. If principles of good government are followed, many positive things -- such as good nutrition in our schools -- will follow. read full story / add a comment

The last time Suicide was raised on Indymedia, 27 people replied. Another article referred to the Father who felt such pain that he opted to set fire to himself in a solicitors office. I took out the sandwiches from my lunchbox in the canteen at work the other day as the rest of my mates sat down beside me with their trays from the hot counter. You see I’ve been eating from my lunch box ever since Sodexho took over running the canteen, because I read an article saying that Sodexho took over the contracts for the all the canteens in the NHS over in England, and all the staff lost their NHS jobs and became lower paid Sodexho employees with fewer rights. read full story / add a comment
