Many readers will ask- what on Earth is this person on about?? Of course the Government wants to stop violence!!!!!!!! Does it really?? No, that is propaganda. Violent men and women are rewarded by the system in secret courts not open to the public. Secret courts are supposed to keep the childs identity secret.!! That is not what is being kept secret at all. Rather- it is the corruption of the state agents, lawyers, judges etc that is kept hidden. read full story / add a comment

I'm sitting here in a wee village with row upon row of empty houses in sight. The rumour is less than 10% have sold. They're building even more. If I was them buildermen I'd give up and go home or take them diggers and go digging for gold in the mountains. The shit is hitting the fans BIGTIME. They'll try to paper over the cracks until after the EU constitution referendum but I don't think they'll succeed. read full story / add a comment

This is personal with me! Without going into detail, I personally know people who are very ill, and who could die if they don't get check-up, examinations, tests and treatment soon. Of course, if they have money, they will get seen to straightaway. It's not right! That's why it's good to see that the Dublin Council of Trade Unions (DCTU) have launched a Campaign Against The Health Cuts. Full details in the main article below. read full story / add a comment

Institutionalised religion is concerned in retaining control: the reality of power is more important than the prospect of exploring multiple realities. Anything new or different raises the alarm bells. The words of church officials come from dogma not from the heart, influenced by tradition, not intuition. read full story / add a comment

Dark tales of babies for breakfast and drugged up doctors on muscle -relaxants racing in dark nights of Belfast operating theatres (in the nineties) provided an evening of food for those inclined to Carteresque tales and shape-shifters of the Danish variety. This is a short opinion and analysis based in an article written in December 2006 regarding the Press laws introduced by the then Minister for Justice, Michael Mc Dowell. He published a Bill entitled 'The Privacy and Defamation Bill 2006'. http://www.indymedia.ie/article/78780 The Bill did not get legislated for in the form introduced and the 'Defamation 'section was 'shelved'. Last night at the Launch of the Press Council of Ireland, current Justice Minister , Brian Leninhan TD threatened the re-introduction of the defamation section , which had garnered international criticism. read full story / add a comment

It is not so easy to build a time line on the issue of Tara and all that this entails. For starters the issue began many years ago and the campaigns have largely evolved with new people coming on to help as was necessitated, however, the General Election of 2007 provided a useful focus and of course saw a corrupt Minister for Environment replaced by one who is morally inept and constitutionally Hamstrung.. but I will give it a go. http://www.savetara.com/articles/2007/122707_contractor....html read full story / add a comment ![]()

Catastrophe faces our planet because of climate change. A whole number of studies, reports and films such as Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth have highlighted this fact. In February of this year, a report written by the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) showed that temperatures could rise as much as 6.4OC by the end of this century. Already climate change has resulted in the doubling of category four and five storms in the last 30 years, while arctic ice has thinned by 40% in the last 40 years. While climate change effects our planet as a whole, it is the world’s workers and poor who will bear the brunt. If major action is not taken to halt climate change then 600 million more people in sub-Saharan Africa will go hungry from collapsing agriculture, 400 million more will be exposed to malaria and 200 million people will be forced to migrate due to rising sea levels, according to the United Nations Development Programme...... read full story / add a comment

In early December classroom assistants in the North returned to work after a series of strike actions which had gone on since September. This action by the classroom assistants showed in stark form the two faces of the trade union movement. On the one hand there was the tremendous bravery and solidarity shown by the workers themselves in standing up to attempts to bully and harass them back to work. On the other hand was the duplicitousness and skulduggery of some trade union bureaucrats who not alone did their best to undermine the dispute but actively worked with management and politicians to betray the workers. read full story / add a comment |
