Reform is favourite to win the Runcorn and Helsby by-election, overturning Labour's 14,700 majority. Why? It might have something to do with having the nation's third-highest number of asylum seekers, says Steven Tucker.

Does Blue Nile sell Israeli blood diamonds?

category international | consumer issues | news report author Wednesday November 17, 2010 01:35author by Sean Clinton Report this post to the editors

Blue Nile censors its Facebook page to avoid having to answer questions about the provenance of their so-called conflict free diamonds.

Are you blocked from the Blue Nile Facebook page? http://www.facebook.com/BlueNile

For the last three weeks Blue Nile, a NASDAQ listed company and the world’s leading online diamond retailer with its European HQ in Dublin, has censored subscribers to its Facebook page who questioned the provenance of their so-called conflict free diamonds. The company has blocked hundreds of people from accessing its Facebook page and altered it to prevent its 80,000+ subscribers from posting new threads on its Wall.

Having endured this for about a week the company restored the facility on Thursday 4th November, but, as more subscribers posted threads asking if any Blue Nile diamonds were crafted in Israel where revenue from the diamond industry funds war crimes and crimes against humanity , the company removed the facility again the following day and blocked more subscribers and their Facebook friends from viewing the site.

On the same day Blue Nile CEO Dian Irvine sold 50% (15,000) of her Blue Nile shares and Executives Chairman Mark C Vadon sold 75% (290,866) of his Blue Nile shares.

If you can access the page please post a question there. Ask why Blue Nile has censored those who asked where their diamonds are cut and polished and/or why Blue Nile executives sold large amounts of company stock on the day the company blocked subscribers posting new threads?
What has Blue Nile got to hide?

if the 'business community' in Dublin share the same values as the 'business community' in Limerick, I am in no doubt that the answer to your question is in the affirmative. However, I NEVER visit 'social networking' site so some other person will have to ask them. The article below is from the 'local press'.

BUSINESS LEADERS IN LIMERICK MEET WITH ISRAELI AMBASSADOR

Business leaders in Limerick have been meeting with the new Israeli Ambassador to Ireland.

Boaz Modai, who arrived in the city yesterday, has held meetings with the Mayor of Limerick Councillor Maria Byrne and the Chamber of Commerce with the aim of fostering closer economic co-operation between the two countries.

Mr. Modai took over as Israeli Ambassador from his predecessor Zion Evrony in September.
