One-day training workshop, Wed 9 December 2009

A free one-day training workshop on Wednesday 9 December 10am-4pm at Cassidy's Hotel, Upr O'Connell St, Dublin 1. The training will equip trainers with tools to explore the current economic crisis affecting Ireland and the world, with those they work with. This workshop also aims to contribute to empowering the participation of local communities in the debates arising from this crisis.

Who is this workshop for?
• Community development workers, community educators, community sector volunteers, CE workers, board members and anyone else actively involved in the community sector.

Learning outcomes:
After this workshop participants will:
• have a deeper understanding of the current global crisis and how it is impacting in Ireland and abroad.
• have a deeper knowledge & understanding of key concepts such as globalization, neo-liberalism and sustainable development.
• have explored opportunities for change arising from the crisis from the personal to the political e.g. from consuming less to political protest.
• have practical tools to explore such issues with groups.

About the workshop:
• Participative methodologies
• A community development and development education approach
• Fun and interactive
• Aims to provide tools and information to equip those active in the community sector to explore the current global and national economic crisis with those they work with.
