Dublin Dock Strikers in High Court , again !

category dublin | worker & community struggles and protests | event notice author Saturday September 05, 2009 20:09author by Joe Mooney - Dublin Port Workers Support Groupauthor email supportportworkers at dublin dot ie Report this post to the editors

Injunction to prevent naming of scabs as scabs resumes in High Court.

Supporters called to rally outside .

The attempt by Marine Terminals LTD to prevent naming of scabs returns to High Court . The company have already secured a temporary injunction to prevent naming and shaming of scabs , and want to prevent trade unionists , strikers and others from using the term scab to describe the scabs now working in MTL . SIPTU, ICTU and 10 individuals have been named in this bizarre case.

We are calling on supporters to assemble at the High Court between 10.30 and 11am. While this attempt to muzzle free speech may sound laughable it is a fairly major move by the company, and is part of the trend of using the High Court to injunct and make effective industrial action extremely difficult. It must be challenged .

Thursday 10th September ,

10.30 am

High Court .

Note: The case is being heard in full, so will continue for quite a while.

See media reports on this legal action to date:

This report is also worth reading, as it clearly names the Kildare scabs as Brian Dooley ,
Cathal Dooley , John Dooley ,James O'Connor, Chris Hutchinson and Simon Doody.
