Contact: nwsolidarity@yahoo.com A evening of solidarity and networking for people who want to change the world will take place in manorhamilton, Leitrim on Friday 17th October 2008.
Starting at 8pm the event will have a number of stalls, book stalls, information stalls, fair trade and Palestinian produce stalls. Three speakers will outline their activities and their ideas on the issue of solidarity, both at home and abroad. The speakers are David landy, Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign; Des dalton, Vice President, Republican Sinn Fein and Donall Ó Mearáin, an activist from the north west. The evening will conclude with a film screening.
The event will be held in the Glens Centre, a beautifully intimate converted Methodist Church. The event is free admission and all people who are interested in finding out how we might collectively and individually enage to make this world a better place to live in are invited to participate in what will prove to be a unique, uplifting and inspiring evening.
In a world where all struggles are compartmentalised and the tried and tested strategy of divide and conquer is played out in our own individual lives, evenings like this are created to break that cycle of isolation from one another and from hope itself.
In a world driven my moeny where we are supposed to be more concerend about the profits of bussinesses than the welfare of each other this evening is aimed at sparking the imagination, feeding the spirit, in a world bereft of both.
Solidarity with our brother and sisters in Palestine must be shared with our brothers and sisters in Rossport and every place else that people rise against power.
