Trans 'allyship' was supposed to lead us all pliantly to accept that men can become women. Now that has failed, the velvet gloves are off to reveal iron fists. But violent threats won't work either, says Caroline Ffiske.

Why don't the English count as an ethnic minority in Wales and qualify for extra cash? Because they're white, says Steven Tucker. But the experience of the English in Wales gives us a picture of our UK-wide future.

Where now for Lisbon after the Green vote?

Analysis of the Green Party's decision yesterday on Lisbon published on the Cedar Lounge Revolution.

"...The Greens are calling for plaudits for the fact that they had an open debate and reached a decision democratically. Leaving aside Gormley’s imaginative interpretation of that vote I suppose, grudgingly, one must acknowledge as much though frankly attempting to lecture other political parties for not doing the same kind of misses the point. No left-wing party would need to debate opposition to Lisbon any more than it would need to debate support for public services or opposition to privatisation. Basic left principles such as support for democracy, opposition to neo-liberalism, opposition to centralisation of unaccountable power and so on make opposing the Treaty a bit of a no-brainer."

The Greens have under-used and under-valued one of their most experienced
politicians because she says things that the corporate section of the party find
inadmissable.

what other political party would shelve someone with her EU experience?

The oldest cliche in the book applies here to Gormley and Ryan and that is;-
'Keep your friends close and your enemies closer'- despite usage of Government spin
and crap they have utterly failed to convince the grassroot that that they have done little
except abandon grassroot principles since aceeding to power with FF and lost a
considerable amount of support over dumping Shannon, Tara and anti-war activism.

Thanks Patricia and Ed Horgan for sticking to principled politics and not streamlining
reductionism and media spin. The Government Greens will no longer get my vote.
