Jump To Comment: 1 2At 9am this morning, a Nottingham protestor was run over by a 4x4 during the peaceful blockade of the Shell Garage on London Road as part of the Soldarity actions with the Rossport anti Shell Campaign and in commemoration of the death of Ken Saro-Wiwa and his comrades by hanging in Nigeria.
The protestor is currently in hospital, the car ran right over his knee, the extent of his injuries are not known.
We will post more details as and when available.
On international day of solidarity with Rossport someone tried to run me down at the entrance to the Shell garage and then had the police question protestors as someone had kicked his car. Needless to say car drivers have a higher status in society than protestors, beware! It occurs to me that we need better defense tactics in order to respond to such agressive drivers. Of course it's a daily thing regardless of whether you're protesting or not but that just makes them more indignant. Any way this is pretty obvious stuff... hope the Nottingham individual is ok and where does the driver live?
