The power outage in Spain and Portugal wasn't caused by extreme weather, but by an over-reliance on wind and solar. If the UK continues on its headlong path to Net Zero, we can expect similar failures.

Why do we fail to deport those whom we should deport? It's due in the end, says Dr David McGrogan, to an excess of pity. We are pitying ourselves into disorder and social decay. We need to be willing not to be nice.

Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade

(CAFT)

PRESS RELEASE-PRESS RELEASE

FUR NO MORE- FOR FUR-FREE CLERYS

The Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade have kicked off this seasons campaigning with a notch on their belts.

They have secured ‘in writing’ an assurance that CLERYS DEPARTMENT STORE will not be including fur in their fashion items this coming Winter season …or ever again.

Store Manager Michael Byrne of Clerys said ‘It is the intention of Clery & Co 1941 to trade as a fur free Department Store’. In taking his commitment a step further Mr Byrne explained ‘ In relation to our franchise operators in this store, Clery’s will endeavour in as far as possible to ensure that no fur products are sold by any consession in Clery and Co (1941) Ltd.’

CAFT was re-established in 2005 to end Dublin’s fur trade. Irelands remaining 6 Fur Farms will be targeted in the current campaign. Activists are in the process of compiling lists of shops that have fur on their rails. A blitz on these shops will be organised to make DUBLIN FUR-FREE.

Fur is cruel, unnecessary and the product of a bygone age. Animals on fur farms are killed by Gassing or ANAL- ELECTROCUTION.

Some facts :

· Fur Farm Raids IRELAND
1. 26/10/98; Shanbally, Ring, Dungarvan, IRELAND; hundreds of minks
liberated.
2. 19/02/03; Ballymanus, IRELAND; 1000 minks liberated.

· Statistics:
Furfarming banned since the beginning of 2003 in Northern Ireland but not in
the Republic of Ireland. Six minkfarms and one foxfarm produce 140.000
minkpelts and 1800 foxpelts.

In March 2005 a Bill to ban fur farming, put forward by Dan Boyle, TD (Green Party) was narrowly defeated allowing FUR FARMING to continue.

1000 mink and hundreds of mink released into the wilds.Ever hear of destroying an eco system????The balaclavad thugs and morons are now just as guilty of damageing an ecosystem as any multinational chemical company.Mink are vicious predators who have no natural enemies bar man [and possibly otters] to keep their numbers under control. They are prolific breeders and will strip an area of wildlife .Some thinking before you liberate a visicious rodent into the wild might not go amiss. But that would be proably be too much for the average Nature Nazi.

Its great to see shops go fur free and as a group who has held a sustained anti fur campaign in Dublin against Barnardo furriers and Brown Thomas for over a year now (as can be seen on your other topics on Indymedia) you must be very pleased.
It just goes to show how effective you really are.
As for Sabwatch's comment..........the greedy fur farmers are the ones breeding Mink in this country in the first place SABWATCH...........maybe you should go tell them about it!!

Again well done CAFT, in this day and age fur is unnecessary and of course cruel.

Keep us posted on actions planned for the shops that have not yet seen the light!

And Sabwatch, apart from your comments being irrelevant to this post, you appear to have some anger issues. May I suggest that as an alternative to valium, you take up transcendental meditation?

\nice one CAFT!!
