Pride Celebrated In Civic Offices
The first report from Pride in Dublin this year came in from Madame K describing jubliantly how "despite the rain nothing could dampen the spirits of the 2,000 or so who took part. The diverse group was well catered for, with the event concluding in a free party held on public space...Dublin Pride has not yet become the commercial entity that has caused untold problems abroad, let`s hope it stays that way". Just like last year Indymedia's home grown batch of photographers and contributers were on the ground for Dublin's Second, newly re-named, International Pride Festival. Wag sez: "Ah Pat, Don't You Know Prazky's The New Dutch and Sure Bud Was Never The Working Man's Can? While watering the proverbial horse on a bush beside the Civic Offices our roving reporter Henry McWag came across a piece of paper containing this quickly hushed up disaster of a press release from the Labour Party: "The Labour Party yesterday came out strongly in support of the campaign to decriminalise what is popularly known as "knacker drinking". Launching the campaign, LP leader Pat Rabbite pledged his party's support by promising to decrease the duty on Dutch Gold, Buckfast and several brands of cider at the lower end of the market, if elected to government. "Rabbite also promised to dispense with the idea of holding local constituency clinics in parish halls and community centres, offering to democratise public access to elected representatives by holding such clinics at outdoor locations near canals and on areas of waste ground adjacent to housing estates, bookies and off licences." |

Stop Trying To Decide Who We Can Marry

In an unusual step, the advocacy group Religious Coalition for the Freedom to Marry has directly targeted Cardinal Sean P. O'Malley and other Catholic leaders for trying to push legislation that interferes with their own faith tradition's stances on gay marriage. O'Malley, along with other Catholic bishops, have been leading an aggressive campaign for a repeal of same-sex marriage laws in Massachusetts. The RCFM has decided that it isn't just or moral for one religious institution to use their political clout to decide policy for all religious institutions.
