Solidiarity with the Teachers of the Other Mexico

category international | worker & community struggles and protests | other press author Sunday June 18, 2006 12:25author by Autonomous Action Individual Report this post to the editors

The teachers of Oaxaca are resisiting the authoritarian state of Mexico, while elsewhere the repression from the governor Ulises Ruiz continues.

Mexico may be thousands of miles away but we can still show solidarity with them. Tomorrow the managers of the Mexican representatives in Ireland and Britain will be returning to work following the weekend break. Please have messages of support for the Other Mexico waiting for them, and demand that they send a message to the Mexican government that the repression of the Other Mexico in Chiapas and Oaxaca should be stopped.

Below we have provided the contact details, including lists of emails and fax numbers for the Mexican Government's representatives in the UK and Ireland. Please take a few minutes to contact them with your statement of solidarity.

Things are getting worse all the time in Mexico as the presidential elections get closer every day.
The mexican government feels threatened by "the other voices" and is using all its power and violence to silence once again all the grasstoots movements and individuals who have been very successfull at working together for the same goal: unmask and expose all the dirty tricks and all the chicanery of the present government and the other opposition parties.
Last week there was a Public Talk about "the other campaign" where an Irish man living in Mexico gave us an account of the situation.
The group at that meeting decided to meet again to discuss this further and look at the posibility of re establishing The Irish Mexico Group.
If you are interested and want to know more about the other campaign or if you want to became involve please came to :
