Calling the Rape Gangs a ?Dog Whistle? Issue Is Utterly Disgraceful Sun May 04, 2025 19:00 | Richard Eldred
Dismissing the rape gang scandal as a "dog whistle" isn't just tone-deaf ? it's a vile insult to victims and exposes a government more afraid of losing votes than of protecting children, says Henry Hill in the Telegraph.

We Shouldn?t Increase Spending on Children With Special Educational Needs. We Should Cut It Sun May 04, 2025 11:00 | Mary Gilleece
The UK's SEND sector is an expensive, infantilising job-creation scheme for middle-aged women that fails to improve outcomes and urgently needs cutting back, argues Mary Gilleece.

Jump To Comment: 1St. Patrick's Day is over. It is now time for Irish politicians invited to the Party hosted by President Bush in New York, to return to an Irish reality situation, yes The Peace Process. Remember this year, saw certain 'strays' not allowed.
I am concerned about media. Official figures tend to skew readership but when looked at closely, readership of newspapers is falling. Who really monitors media these days?
There is presently an over emphasis relating to one-sided information in my view. I have full consideration for the McCartney sisters on the death of their brother but the reaction of the powers that be in the US and the same in Ireland to pith them as standing for a 'Justice in the seeking and making' group of victims of the alleged murderers and their political connections.
Do people look to the future for these women and what lies ahead of them? Due process and diligence is required but surely the bias of the media ensures that there could not be fair trial, if the people concerned were to present to the PSNI. This is similar to the young men who faced Trial relating to the murder at the Burlington 2 years ago. The over focus by media for skewed and bias reasons denies Justice to the accused also.
In this quite astonishing world, there are matters that require serious attention.
What about Equatorial Guinea in West Africa? I am sure most people would have scant idea about this crime and people like Simon Mann, St. Mark Thatcher, the Pentagon.
Why? Perhaps it is still to do with a form of Imperialistic greed and the fact that some are entitled to the spoils of wealth while others are worth nothing.
I note from the BBC news sheet February 2005 that Sir Mark Thatcher 'has admitted breaking African anti-mercenary laws by agreeing to finance a helicopter....' He states that although involved in the finances to those planning the coup, he did not know about it.
So we have the potential Pentagon involvement and UK involvement in a Coup.
Do people realise that Equatorial Guinea has the second highest oil reserves in the World?
How strange, it was the Irishman Sir Roger Casement who (Knighted as the first humanitarian in the last century) who travelled by ship to 'plundered' continents where he wrote pages of details of humanitarian rights atrocities and set about a change. Let Corporatism not lose sight of the power of a human being to invoke change in attitudes towards what is equitable.
Review this in line with the war in Iraq. What about the motives?
Be it a country or people solely or in groups who pledge to pilfer product like oil from a vulnerable country, it still remains unacceptable.
Sir Mark Thatcher was permitted to plea bargain in South Africa; Simon Mann is in jail in Zimbabwe; others in Equatorial Guinea are jailed from thirty years onwards.......where are the rest?
Fair coverage of media please. We need people aware of potential disaster with knowledge suffice to make informed decisions.
'What good fortune for those in power that people do not think'
Yes, Adolf Hitler.
Time to stop apathy....
