Quarry Planning Application Deemed Invalid

Quarry Company must reapply

The long running saga of the Nulty quarry at Ardkill More, Cavan took another twist when it emerged that a planning application from the family owned company has being found invalid by the local county council.

Following yesterdays press statement from Mr. John O’Reilly, Chairman of Red Branch Heritage group expressing strong concerns about the apparent delay of quarry owners John Nulty Limited in forwarding a planning application for their quarry extension at Ardkill More mountain, Co. Cavan it has now emerged that the company have in fact lodged a planning application with Cavan County Council at the end of July. However this is all to no avail as the council has deemed it an invalid application. This means the Nulty Company must reapply with a proper application. However Red Branch Heritage has reliable information that work is in fact continuing on the quarry extension regardless of the planning situation. In another development Cavan County Council have announced that all quarries in the county must now apply to be placed on a special planning register under the terms of the Planning and Development Act 2000 – Section 261.
