Fianna Fail hurt the old,the sick and the handicapped.

30 fistfuls of silver

Fianna Fail are an unscrupulous ,immoral ,and totally ruthless in pursuit of revenues/taxes with which to continue the iniquitous division of our society into" the haves" and "the havenots"

The old,the sick ,or the handicapped ,never benefit from Fianna Fail,s activities. An Example; A few years ago we had hundreds of wheelchair accessible taxis in Dublin,-the licences for which were sold to applicants for 18000 euros each by Dublin Corporation. When Mary Harney demanded deregulation, the same Authority began selling new licences for 6000 euros each and earned over 30 million euros so far in revenue from this source. Now there are virtually no wheelchair taxis in Dublin ,as the Authorities refunded the money and the drivers immediately sold the expensive -to -run vehicles ,due to their drop in income.! In effect the local government sold out the handicapped ,-for 30 large fistfuls of silver.! Judas !,come in-...the Soldiers of destiny are here to greet you! And they need your money.

They do more that you say. They actually cause people to become disabled, or at least they make a very good effort to disable them, by driving their (expensive) cars at them while under the influence. Then they cut back on the resources which disabled and other vulnerable people rely on.
Then they present themselves to the public with big smiles on their mushes as if we should all be grateful, and should be fawning over them and saying their great.
Shure where would ye get it? Isn't it a grand wee country?

Dear Michael(turley)
Wonderful to get some advice on how to resolve my dilemma,re the old the sick and the handicapped .And to meet a brand new Soldier of Destiny on Indymedia.Ambitious,if Green.Fresh and Innocent in the ways of the world.Lovely photo with Bertie,on your web site.Canvassing in Beech Hill,Donnybrooks only working class enclave. Two "men of the people"."Two Daniels in the Lions Den"I bet Bertie once posed for a photo like that, with his Mentor,C.J.H.,....in another life.If you take my advise, keep your head down, study your betters and learn from them.Observe men like Ivor Callely for instance,an erstwhile buddy of the great C.J.H.;a T.D.for Drumcondra and now a Minister Of State in The Department of the Old the Sick and the handicapped(Health,)This man now has the Much sought after "Car with the Star"How did he get it?and why? Ironically his murky past association with Dublins Taxi Mafiosi-who for years ferried the old,(yes again)the sick and the handicapped to voting stations on election days, held their hands steady while they wrote "X" opposite his name, and advertised his candidacy all over Dublin from the rooftops(of their taxis);-lies at the heart of the reason why Dublins wheelchair accessible taxis are now as rare as a U.F.O. sighting.Dubliners lacked a Taxi Service for more than a decade as ,many a wet and foot weary citizen will acknowledge. As far back as1996 Callely managed to persuade the City Council to overturn its own vote to create 200 new taxi licences. Learn too how Berties Comely Courtesan Mary Harney fell out with the "Soldiers"vote buying tactics among the Drumcondra Taxidrivers and simultaneously discovered "Electoral Gold"in the plush south city suburbs by ensuring that Grafton St.shoppers and Leeson St.clubbers would have ample Taxis waiting to ferry them home after a nights debauchery. Many of the taxi brethren will grow old and sick and handicapped paying off big loans taken out to purchase- now worthless- Taxi Plates.Tough shit! Internecine warfare in Leinster House! Thats Politics,Michael.Pray ask Bertie and Mary why they dont tackle the wealthier cartels ?Whats good for the (Taxi) Goose is good for the (Publican) Gander.Last week Bertie said his part time T.D.sand Publicans were making too much money. Why is Ireland one of the last Countries in Europe where a licence to sell alcohol changes hands for millions of Euros? At least none of the ruined Taxidrivers had off-shore or none resident bank accounts to fall back on.Michael,..ponder all these things in your heart and tell me who to write to,when you come up with an answer, for my heart is sorely tried with all this Politicking.Do you really want a" Car with a Star"? Think how many lives you may ruin along that long and lonely road. John McDermott

John,

I still haven't figured out what you are going to try and do about the reduced numbers of wheelchair accessible taxis - other than launching yet another predictable attack on FF.

Perhaps you might tell me what the disability groups saying about this problem?

By the way, do FF get any credit for introducing wheelchair accessible public transport (i.e. buses)?

Regards,

Michael Turley

So you never liaise with them then? I thought you were a public representative?

"So you never liaise with them then? I thought you were a public representative?"

Unlike John, I was not until now aware that there may be a problem. Seeing as John is so passionate about it I thought he might be able to tell me what the people who are affected were saying. The only link I found dealing with the issue was on the rehab website which condemned taxi drivers rather than the government (see http://www.rehab.ie/whatsnew/231100.htm). Remember it was an FF government which brought in the Equal Status act in 2000. In fact, the only Irish wheelchair bound MEP is the popular FFer Brian Crowley.

It seems that many indymedia contributors give vent to their frustrations but do little practical to make a difference. If there is a problem I would have no problem adding my voice to the chorus of disapproval.

FF are scum that do favour cuts that target the vunerable, sick, old and handicapped. It was the FF party that voted in these cuts in the budget, they obviously are in favour of them.

yes 'intheknow', you are correct....

Three taxi plate holders have agreed tax settlements totalling almost £150,000 for undeclared income and Vat, following an investigation by the Revenue Commissioners.

The single largest settlement for £108,684, including interest and penalties, was by John McDermott of 56 Martin Savage Park, Ashtown, Dublin. His occupation is listed in Iris Oifigiu(il as "taxi/landlord".) (Sunday Business Post 2002)

His inability to reply may be due to his lounging around on foreign soil....
