Labour's new National Curriculum is dripping with DEI and Left-wing dogma. Teaching Britain's national story is out, pushing more multiculturalism is in. It's the last thing Britain needs right now, says Dr Nicholas Tate.

Harriet Harman's review of bullying and harassment for the Bar Council has, predictably, found a 'massive' problem and made dozens of nannying recommendations. But less than 1% of lawyers replied, says Stephen Willmer.

There are good teachers, then there are the incompetent. Read more about them at Gombeennation.

It seems that Irish teachers are about to have a belated introduction to the hire-and-fire aspect of the world of work – but at least they’ll still have their holidays, counted in months, to recover from the trauma. This follows a revolutionary agreement forged between Department of Education, and school and teacher representatives.

The recent 'Nationwide' programme on the national broadcastor RTE, on the life and times of 'Irishmen in British uniform' on their day to day life in Aldershot army barracks in England as they prepare for combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, and perhaps even to the country that gave them birth, peddled a pro-British pro-unionist line that implied both the Irish and British armies are synonymous with each other. Despite the fact that the British army has been engaged in the blatent murder of Irish citizens since colonisation right up to present times, RTE, in the making of this programme, acted like a recruiting agency for the foreign army that continues to colonise six counties of this island. The behaviour of RTE in this matter is both unsavoury and sordid and acts against the national interest. read full story / add a comment

Lindsey German and John Rees have declared all out war on the SWP central committee majority. There can be only one winner in this fight. If Lindsey and John lose the battle then a split is likely. Peter Manson reports on this fight to the finish. Full story at link.

The SWP leadership has continued the process of disempowering its former number one, John Rees, by recommending that he be removed from the central committee at the SWP annual conference, due to take place in London over the weekend of January 9-11 2009. Meeting on Wednesday November 26, the CC decided to exclude Rees from its take-it-or-leave-it slate, with only his long-time allies, Chris Bambery and Chris Nineham, voting against ditching him. read full story / add a comment

The Communist Organization of Greece (KOE) salutes the dozens of thousands of youth and people who continue, for the third consecutive day, the resolute and combative demonstrations against the government and the police murder. At this moment (morning of Monday 8 December) thousands of school pupils are demonstrating in front of the Athens Police General Headquarters, as well as in many neighborhoods of Athens and all over Greece. This afternoon the Coalition of Radical Left (SYRIZA) and other left organizations call for big popular demonstrations in the centre of Athens and in many other cities. Even the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), which until now made nothing and did not participate in any protest, now feels the pressure and the anger of the youth and of the popular masses and calls for a (separate, as always…) meeting in Athens.
