Joan Collins, a Dublin City Councillor, is running for a Dáil Seat in the Constituency of Dublin South-Central. The General Election is coming soon - on Friday February 25.
Joan is a People Before Profit Candidate, part of the United Left Alliance (ULA), which is tipped to win six ore more seats in the new Dáil.
Joan hit the media headlines by interrupting an RTÉ interview with former Taoiseach and Fianna Fáil Leader Bertie Ahern ...about his last days in Leinster House, headquarters of Dáil Éireann, the Irish Parliament :
With the ULA what you see is what you get - an independent left-wing campaigning group which will never enter coalition with right-wing parties such as Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael.
We are very hopeful Joan's campaign will be successful, but nothing can be taken for granted.
Elections cost money - we're running a table quiz to support Joan's run for the Dáil :
Thursday February 10, 8.30pm, in the Teachers' Club,
36 Parnell Square, Dublin 1
An ideal preparation for Valentine's Day - which is a theme of this quiz - dress for the occasion!
It costs only €5 per person to participate, and there will be a raffle.
You could help, if you wish, by
donating a prize (or two!)
telling your friends, comrades, sisters, brothers...
sending us a donation even if you can not attend
And - the politics of the campaign?
