Monthly homeschooling/deschooling/alternative education gatherings

category galway | education | event notice author Saturday January 15, 2011 15:06author by Martha Report this post to the editors

A space for homeschooler families to meet and share experiences.

The idea is to create a space for homeschooler families to meet.
Crannog is a beautiful place in south Galway near Gort. Flor and Marion
the owners of the place are very happy to offer once a month the space for learning, sharing and have fun together. Marion is a yoga teacher who also has very good knowledge on horses. They both run an organic farm and it is an ideal spot as they have many areas that we could use (Yoga room, outdoor buildings like a hogan where we could light a fire and have a picnic).
The first gathering was on the 7th of December, and it was lovely, the weather was frosty but sunny and we were mainly outside with the fire and children playing around, making natural climbing frames, and with the horses.
We can shape the gatherings together. We are suggesting to meet up at 11 am at Crannog till 3 pm.
When everybody arrives Marion will give us a yoga class for parents and
children will be free to join if they wish (We are sugesting to do it for not more than 20-30 m).
Later we can go outside and light the fire, go for a walk, and get picnic
ready, and of course free play around garden.

What are we asking from families/groundrules:

1- Bring food to share for picnic
2- Be as punctual as posible
3- While in Crannog all adults will be responsible for the children there.
A good policy on supporting each other would be that 3/4 adults are
watching and accompanying the children, their own and others.
In that way we can all have some time to relax and chat. Maybe for half an hour. We'll sort that out there.
4- This is an open space, so please feel free to comment and/or bring new ideas to the gatherings.
price: 10 euros per family no matter how many children you are bringing.
5- We need committment from those who are coming.

Please visit the space here: http:www.crann-og.net - for directions

When: January 28th from 11 am till 2/3 pm

Please call to confirm asap.

Phone: 0872031764

Regards,

Martha
