AT THE BIKE FLEA MARKET
Sunday 3rd October 2010, from 14.00 to 17.00
Unitarian Church, Princes Street, Cork City
Have you got a rusty old bicycle, harbouring spiders in your shed?
If so, then Cork City Council recommends that you “Shake off the cobwebs, liberate your bike and bring it along to the next Cork Bike Flea Market.”
The event, sponsored by the EU-funded Trendy-Travel Project, allows owners of out-of-use bikes to sell, swap or revamp their old bikes, at the Unitarian Church on Princes Street between 2pm and 5pm on Sunday 3rd of October.
On this day, the church will be transformed into a spa where bicycles can be treated to a facelift by Rob Ireson. Sculptor, Permaculture expert and bicycle wizard Rob Ireson will also be hosting a workshop on harnessing bike power: “How to Convert your Bike into an amplified MP3 player.”
Also presenting a workshop will be Dr. Darren MacAdam O’Connell, surely one of Cork’s most famous cycling enthusiasts. Darren, a scientist with a passion for pedal-power, will be representing Cork Community Bikes as he teaches people how to repair their bikes. Darren will also be on hand all afternoon to heal sick bikes at the Temporary Bike Hospital. He will be joined by fellow Cork Cycling Campaign Member: Miro Wartena.
Mingling in their midst, will be Mea The Clown, to paint faces and make bicycle balloons- all to the lively music of the Blue Bottles!
