Palestine solidarity activists target Dead Sea products in Jervis Centre (again!)

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Saturday October 03, 2009 15:44author by Kev - IPSC (pers cap)author email info at ipsc dot ie Report this post to the editors

Today Saturday 3rd October, activists from the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the Irish Anti War Movement engaged in a leaflet blitz outside the Jervis Centre in Dublin. The campaigners were highlighting the presence of an Israeli stall in the Centre that is selling ‘beauty products’ from illegal Dead Sea settlement-colonies in the West Bank.

The leaflets were calling on consumers to boycott these products of the oppression of the Palestinian people. In all, around 2,000 leaflets were handed out to shoppers and passers-by.

This is the third action carried out by activists at the Jervis Centre in the past month – for reports of the previous actions see http://www.indymedia.ie/article/94039 and http://www.indymedia.ie/article/94116.

The IPSC is asking for support from the public to help have these peddlers of criminal wares evicted from the Jervis Centre and any other such shopping centres as they may be present in. You can do this by a) informing our Consumer Boycott Officer of their presence should you come across them and b) writing letters of protest to the shopping centres allowing their premises to be abused by the presence of these products.

You can email the Consumer Boycott Officer on consumerboycott [at] ipsc.ie

You can download a sample letter of protest here: http://ipsc.ie/dsbp/
