Support the Port Workers
We can win
This month marks the 96th anniversary of the 1913 Dublin Lockout. Sadly, almost a century later, some employers are still attacking workers rights, hard fought and won for us by previous generations. Workers at Marine Terminal LTD in Dublin Port are on official strike for 7 weeks. They were forced into this by a greedy employer who forced redundancies and introduced new contracts with wages slashed and conditions worsened. If this company succeeds, their tactics will be used all over Dublin and the rest of the country. We must stand together and fight for decent jobs, for today, and for the next generation.
The response from the community has been tremendous. The striking workers have expressed their gratitude, and stressed how much this support means to their morale. Dock workers in Belfast, the UK and Holland have sent messages of solidarity, and have all praised the community backing for the workers. Industrial action, in support of the Dublin workers may soon spread across Europe.
We still have a role to play, and we must maintain our support, and increase the pressure. Make a special effort to support this next protest. Bring your friends, your neighbours and your children. Let them see that we are fighting for their future.
Dock workers for Belfast and Liverpool have offered to join with this protest. Let’s make their journey worth while, and ensure this is the biggest protest yet.
SEE YOU THERE.

A report from todays Irish Times .
Note that the parrot employed by Peel Ports to do their PR is keeping busy . The companies response to everything so far has been to throw out these misleading figures , and ignore the issues and developing situation . I predict that the poor parrot may be forced to expand his vocabulary in the near future.
