offsite link Why Are Popes so Soft on Migration? Mon May 12, 2025 15:00 | Dr Roger Watson
Pope Leo, like Francis, is an open borders enthusiast for whom it seems no migrant should be turned away. Why are senior churchmen so blind to sense and deaf to public concerns on border security, asks Prof Roger Watson.

Reclaim the Streets of Galway

category galway | anti-capitalism | event notice author Tuesday May 12, 2009 02:53author by The Street Gig - The Street Gigauthor email thestreetgig at gmail dot comauthor address The Streets of Galway Report this post to the editors

Show 'em how streets should really be used!

Though much of our small city centre in Galway may be pedestrianised, it doesn't mean it belongs to the people. The city centre of galway belongs to consumers and corporations- but not for long!

Saturday 16 May at 1 pm, the streets are yours. Meet us on Shop St, near Lynch's Castle.

This Saturday, we will be taking to the streets, showing them how streets really should be used. Come and bring as many friends as possible. Bring anything you want to share with others- skills (bike repair, art projects, DIY skillz-anything!), music/compilation cds, clothes, plants and other useful objects, whatever you can think of! We will have a really really free market, free food courtesy of food not bombs, twister games, live music, face painting, street performers, and anything else you bring! This is your event, these are your streets!

Its good to remind ourselves what a world without money would look like.

If you are traveling to galway and need a place to stay for the weekend, send us an email at thestreetgig@gmail.com and we will sort you out. If you or your campaign would like to table for the event, please send us an email.

Meet on shop street, 16 May at 1pm, near Lynch's castle. See you in the streets!

I hear costumes are strongly encouraged. Anything out of the ordinary is encouraged.

No doubt Galway's Cuty Councillors, patrons and supporters of the arts as they are, will be out to support you.
