Nearly 80% of Britain's 'Establishment' is Left-wing. No wonder our 'independent' judges keep making lunatic decisions. It's time they were made accountable to voters once again, says Dr David McGrogan.

The technocrats are falling across the West as their ideology founders on reality. The cracking of the Net Zero consensus, like the end of Lysenkoism in the Soviet Union, is a moment of hope, says Dr Tilak Doshi.

RTÉ poll shows people think the gardaí are siding with Shell

category mayo | crime and justice | other press author Wednesday September 10, 2008 20:24author by Dept of Justice Watcher Report this post to the editors

Finding must trouble Dermot Ahern

RTE are currently running an online poll ' Are the Gardai putting the interests of Shell ahead of the interests of the public by arresting the two fishermen?' on their news web page: http://www.rte.ie/news/index.html

It's not how clear what the final result will be, but so far it looks like a clear majority think the police are not the impartial force they should be.
dermot_ahern.jpg

Obviously, many on the left have long given up on the idea of the police as being anything other than a security force to protect property.

Irish Republicans have also had little respect for the notion that the gardaí are an unbiased, impartial force.

But the general population in the 26 counties have historically had a certain respect for the police.

Findings like today's poll must give cause for concern to those who wish to see the garda siochána function as an impartial defender of community values.

The poll is still going- check out the current result at http://www.rte.ie/news/index.html

This is the relevant quote from the poll comments. there's a phone no. attached, and if someone in the campaign has personal knowledge of said man he could be usefully put on the case. It would add just a little bit more to their headache!

I am a retired inspector for the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) in Ireland (SIPTU is the Irish ITF affiliate) and this enables me to look up the pipe laying vessel SOLITAIRE, used by Shell Ireland. The SOLITAiRE (IMO Regd No 7129049) operates under a Panamanian Flag of Convenience and the vessel owners refuse to sign an agreement with the ITF which sets out minimum wages and conditions for the crew. Bad luck to you Shell Ireland for bringing such a vessel to Ireland. T Ayton 087 6794426

Oh, and btw, the poll says the Guards are Shell's Cops by 72% against 28%!
