The ?10.5 billion cost of compensation for Waspi women ? which Labour has said it is now considering paying out afresh ? would wipe out the money raised by a 1p income tax rise, figures show.

The BBC obviously leans heavily Left, says one former staff member, writing anonymously in the Daily Sceptic. But to the people who work there, their right-on views are just the 'normal' and 'objective' way to think.

Women are being told it's "uncool" and "Republican" to have a boyfriend, with some even cropping out their partners' heads on holiday snaps. This is not going to help the birth rate or women's happiness, says Joanna Gray.

offsite link A BBC Reckoning for the Covid Lockdowns is Overdue Wed Nov 12, 2025 11:26 | Will Jones
Trust in the BBC has been collapsing for years. For many, it finally died during Covid when the national broadcaster took on the role of chief cheerleader for the lockdowns, no dissent allowed. A reckoning is long overdue.

It's been a very long time since the BBC even pretended to be impartial on climate change, says Chris Morrison. The truth is, decades of crying 'Fire!' in the climate theatre have left the BBC with net zero credibility.

Call for submissions against Shell pipeline

category national | environment | news report author Saturday May 17, 2008 12:27author by maryauthor email rossportsolidaritycamp at gmail dot com Report this post to the editors

DEADLINE WED 25th JUNE

Now Shell have applied for planning for their 'new' pipeline route, we must act swiftly to oppose it at every stage. Everyone can make submissions! This entire project has been the cause of untold misery, strife and unhappiness for our families and community. We will continue to resist Shell through every legal, political and campaigning means open to us, even though this could lead to more years of unnecessary conflict. Please support us and make a submission.

Nothing has changed since the Rossport 5 were imprisoned and this proposed route still literally cuts through the heart of our community. It exposes not just the people of Rossport but the people of the entire parish of Kilcommon to unprecedented and unacceptable risk. We need resolution and agreement, not the forced imposition on an unwilling community of an unwanted and unsafe project. The tragedy is that there has always been a better way....Shell to Sea!

Shell's application can be viewed here: www.corribgaspipelinesiaapplication.ie
For more info on how to make a submission pls see: www.pleanala.ie/sid/sidpp.htm
An Bord Pleanala, The Board, 64 Marlborough St, Dublin 1.
A submission must:
• be in writing
• contain the name and address, and the telephone number and email address, if any, of the person making the submission. Where an agent makes the submission on a person's behalf, he/she must also state clearly his/her own name and address, and his/her telephone number and email address, if any, in addition to that of the person he/she is representing,
• state the subject matter of the submission (e.g. details of the nature and the site of the proposed development),
• state the reasons, considerations and arguments on which the submission are based in full (focus on the implications of the proposed development for proper planning and sustainable development; the likely effects on the environment of the proposed development if carried out.)
• be accompanied by €50, unless a prescribed body- contact An Bord Pleanala to check this (tel 01 8588100)
if you need any help, don't hesitate to ask : rossportsolidaritycamp@gmail.com.

So it'll cost ye E50- to have your poke at democracy! Who set this fee, and why should it cost so much to represent your view in a "democratic country"?
