I suggest u brush up on your systematics m8!! , Polar Bears are as closely related to minks as we are to Tree Shrews.
I dont think you need a gun to defend yourself from a mink. However, Polar Bears are related to minks and basically are giant minks. If there are Polar Bears rampaging through Laois then it might be best to avoid the area.
Hmmm, how about releasing Polar Bears from Dublin Zoo and letting them loose in Laois?

Mink are wiping out birds throughout Ireland. The release of several hundred will devastate bird populations in that area for years to come. I would advise that couple to get a gun, so they can defend themselves.
