Theres more than one organisation commemorating Ireland's dead. The Official Republican Movement will be gathering in Belfast and Newry at the weekend. The Workers Party will hold events in Dublin, Belfast and Waterford. Oh, and those others, (Provisional) Sinn Fein will be holding many events. Fianna Fail also hold a commemoration I believe. Hold on... the IRSP will also be marching.

so why didnt you post them on the evenst section instead of mentioning about them on the post about the commemorations ornised by the Republican Movement? For the record I would be intrested in the ORM Commemorations and in fact hope that you post a report of these in fact, but this topic is about the RM.

Hi Charlie !

No , I wouldn't think so .
Those intending to 'phone in reports on how the republican commemorations are going will probably use mobile phones .
Must cost them a small fortune to ring Stormont , though . But they are subsidised by the State !
;-)

Thanks!

Sharon.

éirígí will be having a small, informal wreath-laying ceremony tomorrow (Sunday 23rd) at Glasnevin Cemetery at 12:30pm.

The weekend of May 10th/11th will be when its official commemoration is held (May 12th - a Monday this year, being the anniversary of the execution of James Connolly)

To everyone in the four provinces of Ireland attending commemorations for our patriot dead this Easter week - Cáisc shona daoibh go léir.

Always & forever remembered with the height of esteem & gratitude the leaders and volunteers of 1916 Easter Rising (solas síoraí dá n-anamacha), for without them & others who fought for independence from British rule since 1169, we would have nothing at all of our own to be proud of today.

During Easter please also mention in your prayers/orations the civilians who lost their lives or were maimed during the cross-fire of Easter week and in modern times. I am certain Pádraig Mac Piarais and all the others who participated in the 1916 Rising would want them mentioned too.

thank you rsf for making sure there are still actual republicans who instead of self intrest or regional loyalty give their loyalty to the republic of easter week ...without you rsf there'd be no republicanism left at all.
