'Safeguarding' is becoming a big problem, and not just because it's being weaponised against conservatives, says Mary Gilleece. Children are being put at risk as criminal conduct is tolerated under 'safeguarding' rules.

www.Rate-Your-Solicitor.com receives over one million hits

category national | crime and justice | press release author Wednesday December 27, 2006 20:33author by RYSauthor email email at rate-your-solicitor dot com Report this post to the editors

Controversial Rate Your Solicitor website gets its one millionth hit on Christmas Day

The Management of the controversial website www.Rate-Your-Solicitor.com is pleased to announce that the site, which was officially launched last April, has already attracted over one million hits. This is more than twice as fast as initial projections!

Management would like to thank the public for their cooperation in putting their solicitors' names on the site and sharing their experiences, varying from very positive to complete horror stories, while even criminal conduct was regularly reported. Nearly 800 solicitors and other legal professionals have now been rated, with an amount of comments varying from just one to over a hundred per person. Management hopes that the legal profession will now finally accept the reality of a totally changed working environment and give the public the much better, cheaper and more efficient service that it is so clearly demanding by giving voice to their opinion in their thousands on the RYS site.

Management also wishes to thank those old-fashioned legal "heavyweights" in Dublin who worked extremely hard to produce a lot of very good publicity for the site, but very bad publicity for themselves and their profession, by using every twist and turn in the Irish legal system to sue in the High Court the completely innocent P.R.O. of the Victims of the Legal Professional Society (www.CrookedLawyers.com), ostensibly for putting a tasteless remark about a female barrister that he didn't even know on the RYS site, but in reality in an attempt to get the entire RYS and VLPS websites banned by the Court (the infamous Maguire v. Gill case in which the actual writer of the objectionable comment was hardly even mentioned in the proceedings, let alone punished!).

However, all their bullying and intimidation over many months got these would-be legal rottweilers nothing that a simple email to the RYS site could not have achieved in a couple of days, and their efforts only go to show once again how vulnerable to abuse the Irish legal system really is, especially when the presiding judge feels that he has to look after his own under any circumstances!

Management hopes that further legal professionals who feel unjustly treated on the site will bear all this in mind and reminds them that there is also a Forum on the site to give their own version of any disputed cases, and if they feel that a negative comment is undeserved, they can simply put their own comment under their own name on the site as well.

Finally, Management is now authorized to disclose that several of the backers of the RYS site which is legally based in the USA are themselves highly regarded members of the Irish legal profession who are completely fed up with their colleagues giving the profession a bad name by their adamant refusal to move with the times and their shameless attempts to keep the legal gravy train running for as long as they possibly can before its inevitable derailment.

It should be noted that for obvious reasons editorial policy for the site remains firmly in the hands of a completely independent board of management located outside the Irish jurisdiction.
