Have your say

Mark Langhammer has come up with some very interesting ideas on the North in Irish political review Vol 21 No 9

Can order through www.atholbooks.org or purchase in Connolly Book s Dublin and elswhere.

He welcomes comments at mlanghammer@dsl.pipex.com

Mark is a member of the Labour party but he has some very independant ideas that are quite original. Full title of the article is A stormont that works . Is it possible? He comes up with some ideas about the Northern Proccess including the suspended executive. He suggests that Peter Hain should become the Chief Minister and Dermot Ahern the deputy Chief Minister. He believes they should make decisions on security on the basis of being devolved from Westminister. They would then inform the rest of the executive maby six or seven members drawn from the assembly,. On non security matters the other executive members would be equal to the chief and deputy chief ministers. This would cut back from the previous arrangement of maby 12 ministers. Even better he suggests a total compliment for the assembly of 35 or 36. Either 5 from each of the new 7 regional councils or 2 from each of the present 18 Westminister constituencies. What do you think folks.
