Here's a piece on how the Limerick Leader followed up this act.

I hope this goon gets the welcome he deserves.
I cant wait to meet and hear the US Ambassador. you bunch of dickheads have nothing better to do than crticise his visit, do you really think that phoning the US Embassy or anywhere else will stop his visit there is no doubt about it but you people are living in another World.
GET A LIFE
Sir - It is not long ago that The Limerick Leader newspaper carried an article in which Mr Kenny more or less warned the people of Limerick and the Shannon region that it there was too much noise about US use of the airport at Shannon jobs could go. I waited in vain for the leader of our country, Bertie Ahern, to slap Mr Kenny's wrist for daring to virtually threaten, by stealth, Irish workers; no such slap was forthcoming, as our great leader, protecting our interests as always, looked the other way. and said nothing. The US Ambassador will no doubt make similar threatening noises in Galway. Let him also mention while he's at it how the US funded the Taliban whom they now consider 'terrorists'; how US foreign policy permitted, indeed encouraged, through the CIA, the moulding together of extremist Islamicist belief and interpretation with notions of violent reaction in Afghanistan ; how the CIA funded a booklet, sent to Afghani schools and elsewhere and freely distributed, elucidating elements of this strategy - the whole idea being to create and devise a notion of Islamicist extremism. How the 'war on terror' began as, and remains, a war to secure oil pipelines in central Asia. I do hope Galway's good and true business types will ask Mr Kenny how he feels about the incidents of women and children, indeed, whole families, being wiped out in Afghanistan and Iraq, because of US foreign policy.
