The power outage in Spain and Portugal wasn't caused by extreme weather, but by an over-reliance on wind and solar. If the UK continues on its headlong path to Net Zero, we can expect similar failures.

Why do we fail to deport those whom we should deport? It's due in the end, says Dr David McGrogan, to an excess of pity. We are pitying ourselves into disorder and social decay. We need to be willing not to be nice.

An expose of American foreign policy

category international | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Tuesday April 18, 2006 13:19author by Paul - .author email tarbhmaith at imagine dot ie Report this post to the editors

Is the Israeli lobby all powerful

This link explains how the objectives of the Israeli lobby in the US coincide with the general thrust of American foreign policy since the second world war.

The author (of the link) states that the United States has had a consistent policy since World War II of fighting all regimes across the Third World who insist on controlling their national resources, whether it be land, oil, or other valuable minerals. This extends from Iran in 1953 to Guatemala in 1954 to the rest of Latin America all the way to present-day Venezuela. Africa has fared much worse in the last four decades, as have many countries in Asia.

If the Israel lobby was forcing the United States government to pursue policies in the Middle East that are inconsistent with its global policies elsewhere, then an argument can be made that the Israeli lobby has hijacked American foreign policy. This, however, is far from what happens. While US policies in the Middle East may often be an exaggerated form of its repressive and anti- democratic policies elsewhere in the world, they are not inconsistent with them.

Too often the media want to protray an image of the all powerful ,all knowing Israeli lobby manipulating the US for their own ends, this allows many to deny that responsibility for Israel's actions ultimately rests with the US.

Why do all the problems of the world get blamed on a few million men and women and children who happen to cricumcise their male children, eat unleavened bread and worship Yahweh and merely desire to live quietly in their homeland and elsewhere?

The land of Israel was given to the chosen people long ago by Yahweh as we feld slavery in the land of Egypt- ever since Jews have lived there fighting against enemy after enemy who tried to destroy and enslave us - many times they succeeded and enough Jews survived to restore our nation.
Millions of Jews have returned to the home of their ancestors and merely want to live in peace away from the European gentiles who have murdered and persecuted us for centuries culminating in the Shoah while the world turned away indifferently - in our own land we are attacked by Muslims who we would readily live peacefully side by side with as we would have wished to have lived side by side with the German people before they started gassing us.
The Arabs have attacked us in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973 and ever since by terrorist bombings, suicide attacks and rockets fired from beyond our borders. Why are Jews not allowed to build communities and settle where they please without having to build walls around our homes and protect ourselves from attack? Israel is under seige daily as our enemies wish to coral us into another ghetto.
As long as we are alive and capable of protecting our nation from our enemies we will continue to defend ourselves.
Israel does not have to wait for our enemies to recognise our existence - we will exist and will continue to exist on our terms.

Pearlman

First what are the Protocols?

First let me state, I accept Israel's right to exist, my preference is within the 1967 borders. The other alternative is a one state solution where all religions are allowed freedom of expression and all are equal in the eyes of the law.

Yes Israel was attacked (by corrupt arab regimes) and continues to be attacked by those who have some right on their side (land being robbed, collective punishment etc). I do not know of a win win solution, but if pushed I would claim that Israel adhers a little too much to the idea that power comes from a barrel of a gun, might is right. With America using Israel (for all kinds of reasons) I do not believe that any reasonable solution could be negotiated, if only for the fact that Israel can seemingly justify all its actions to the US policy makers either on the basis of anti semitism or the world wide anti terrorist war, thus Israel seems to have carte blanch in their dealing with the Palestinians. This can not be a basis of an honourable future solution and if I was Israeli I would not like to live in such a militarised society.

But may I ask where in the article I posted a link for, was it stated that Israel has no right to exist.

Just googled Protocols, it looks like it has nothing to do with American foreign policy, so why refer it to. Unless you wish to accuse me of anti semitism or of being a nazi, neither ideologies that I have any time for. If you wish to accuse me of any ideology you could slag off my wishy washy hippy liberal outlook on life.

Funny how people identify with an ideology before they identify with their common humanity -- isn't it? So it would seem that the ideology should be eradicated. If it is more important to be a Jew or a Muslim or a nationalist then we can accept your humanity as being second rate -- can't we? As such you may be under threat from those who consider their humanity to be of prime importance. What we have over there is 6 million pains in the arse -- keep it up until the whole world decides to remove the pain. Or as an alternative you could join the rest of the human race.

A paranoid Jew responds to an article with an assumption (protocols of Zion).

That really takes the biscuit, Pearlman. So Israel was attacked in 1956? 1948, 1967, 1973, you can make the claim, although it doesn't stand up to much scrutiny. But 1956? By what stretch of the imagination does Israel's unprovoked assault on Egypt, carried out in alliance with British and French imperialism, qualify as an attack on Israel?

Your inane reference to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion is all the more laughable, given that Paul had posted a link to an article challenging the idea that America supports Israel because of the strength of Jewish influence in the US.
