The overturning of Hamit Coskun's conviction for burning a Quran shows Britain doesn't have blasphemy laws. But in truth a fear of violent reprisals has created a de facto blasphemy law for decades, says Clarissa Hard.

Hamburg ? Germany's leading industrial city ? has just committed to deindustrialise completely in 15 years after a referendum on Net Zero by 2040 passed with 53.2% of the vote. This is utter insanity, says Eugyppius.

Cuban spy trial 5 get through US hurdles.

category international | crime and justice | other press author Tuesday August 09, 2005 23:51author by iosaf - "by knowing how to bang my shoe on the table" Report this post to the editors

5 members of the Cuban state government, which has stretched since its resplendent days of thrashing hotels and being squeezy hugged by Kruschev, hae had their court rulings annuled.

They have been held by the US since 1998

Since March 10, 2004, the three US magistrates assigned by the Atlanta Appeal Court"s 11th Circuit to revise the case of Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labaņino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez.have been doing their thing and their decision today to reverse the convictions was unanimous.

The "Red Avispa" or "red bee" spy ring story is a source of gathering solidarity and interest in both the USA and the Spanish speaking Americas.

The Cuban Five were arrested in September 1998, and spent 17 months in solitary.

Three US magistrates assigned by the Atlanta Appeal Court"s 11th Circuit made the decision.

The sentences reversed on Tuesday release Antonio Gerardo from double life imprisonment and 15 years, Ramon Labaņino and Antonio Gerardo, life imprisonment, plus 18 years (Ramon) and 10 years (Antonio), Fernando Gonzalez, 19 years of prison, and Rene Gonzales, 15 years.

They were engaged in activity which is described as being anti-terrorist at the time of their detention by the US.

You could write a book about it.

Rosa Aurora Freijanes the wife of Fernando Gonzales expressed her wish to see all the five men back on their island and out of capitalist imperialist prison.
