The power outage in Spain and Portugal wasn't caused by extreme weather, but by an over-reliance on wind and solar. If the UK continues on its headlong path to Net Zero, we can expect similar failures.

Why do we fail to deport those whom we should deport? It's due in the end, says Dr David McGrogan, to an excess of pity. We are pitying ourselves into disorder and social decay. We need to be willing not to be nice.

Corrib Jailings

category mayo | rights, freedoms and repression | press release author Thursday June 30, 2005 09:33author by Ed Report this post to the editors

RTE does not want to know

Justice delayed is justice denied.

Copy of Email sent to RTE – Morning Ireland programme

I just spoke to your researcher, Niall, regarding the Shell Corrib Gas jailing which took place yesterday.

Niall refused to accept that those men have been jailed without their case being heard. That is, that they were jailed for failure to abide by an injunction which had been granted to Shell pending the hearing of their case.

The truth is that Shell has consistently frustrated the hearing of the case by using court procedures to have the hearing repeatedly adjourned. Despite six trips to the High Court over the past four months no hearing of their case has taken place. It is currently set for October next. Each journey to the High Court entails 400 miles round trip – 2,400 miles to date! Costs have mounted proportionately, yet no access to justice has been afforded.

In the meantime Shell are using the protection of the injunction to progress the pipeline work. In effect they are using the interim injunction, which by definition is a very short-term restraining measure, to achieve a fait accompli. That is, the pipeline which is the centre of contention will be completed by this means before the case is heard.

This is the real scandal of yesterday’s jailings- that procedures which are intended to facilitate access to justice are being used to frustrate that access. This is a fundamental yet common abuse of our court system and ultimately of our constitution.

Please bring this information to the attention of your listeners.

I am absolutely in agreement with this analyis.

And showing Shell's arrogance towards the High Court and its judges Shell carried out a late night meeting in Leinster House to attempt to tamper or redirect the ruling of the High Court.

It admitted as much on Morning Ireland today. Has it now got the power to change or exert undue influence on High Court rulings?

Is it directing both the Government and the Judiciary in its preferred direction? Well, Shell was in Leinster House at an unprecedented hour as well as being in Court yesterday. Imposing its whims on both!

Will the government and the Judiciary obey and never publicly question Shell while ignoring its own citizens- this is a story for the history books and a sad time for democracy.

Sinister map appears on evil Mayo farmers' website.

Gardai have said that they are powerless to prevent the sinister map which has been produced by the sick Mayo farmers who are trying to hold the country to ransom and bring us all back to the dark ages. The map was posted on notorious terrorist site indymedia.ie, which has become the farmers website in a backroom deal between the ruthless thugs who ransacked the city and attacked the gardai last May day in Dubin and the farmers' undergound organisation. It provides precise locations of Shell stations around the city - information which could be very useful to any terrorist group.

Security experts are describing the map as a 'target list' and warn that it could easily be used by sinister forces to conduct a campaign of thuggery and terror. One independant expert, Michael of the Dowells security group, told Ireland on scumday "a sniper's cross hairs is clearly visible on the map and appears to be targetting the city centre area. This could easily be a sign that these thugs are preparing to carry out an atrocity agains the decent people of Dublin."

In a bid to get to the bottom of the matter ,commissioner Conroy has drafted extra forces into the Rossport area. According to one local garda "half of Donegal has been transferred down here."

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern took a tough stance agains this sinister development in the dail yesterday "the decent law-abiding people of this country will not be intimidated by threats of force. Therefore, I am decreeing that anybody who continues to oppose Shell's wonderful developments will be summarily arrested and imprisoned. The Gardai have been authorised to use force if necessary."

I was just thinking a couple of weeks back that every other Petrol Station in Galway was a Statoil. In fact I'm finding it difficult to think of any that ain't. The only one I was told wasn't got closed recently.
