In the light o f BELB & SELB overspending

School hounds pupil after he tells visiting President of East Timor , the school principal spends budget on flash luxury limos.

A Lagan college pupil has practically been hounded out of Lagan after he was presented to the visiting president of East Timor, and told him ''Our school head mistress spends the school budget on flash luxury limos''.

Indeed if you can ever make it up to Lagan which is in the middle of nowhere you will find an over abundance of teachers driving luxury limos and fast cars, whilst pupils freeze in makeshift mobile classrooms and mud, surrounded by electricity pylons.

This news article would be much more informative if some some substantial facts were included. It may not be appropriate in the interests of privacy to mention the name of the college pupil in question but facts such as the date the President came to visit (16th of October if anyone is interested) would make this article more newsworthy.

Reporting what staff members are driving what makes of fancy car and some sort of proof as to how they nefariously diverted school money into their own private coffers would give the allegation more credibility. Maybe it's all legit and on record from Minister McGuinness' department in which case it could have been researched and information on the amount of funding the shcool received and how it was spent could have been included in the article. As the story stands, it's in danger of being hidden under the unsubstantiated allegation editorial guideline. I'd also point out that using a name that is abusive towards the late Basil McIvor doesn't help the credibility of the fancy cars allegation.

It would also help many readers to explain that BELB stands for Belfast Education & Library Board and that SELB stand for Southern Education and Library Board. Finally, a picture of the "makeshift mobile classrooms and mud, surrounded by electricity pylons" could make this a really good news article. It would certainly contrast strongly with the positive image painted by the school's own website.

Who is it that has such a beef about Lagan college and why.
