ESB power outages cruel to consumers ESB does not patrol power lines or check transformers and only change them when the horrendous gales force the ESB to do so THE ESB PRESIDES OVER AN ORGANISATION THAT NO LONGER MEETS PAYING CUSTOMERS NO LONGER PATROLS POWER LINES OR CHANGES TRANSFORMERS UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE OR THEY FAIL IN STORMS. THE 63 POWER OUTAGES SINCE AUGUST 2007 UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2016 ENSURES 7 OUTAGES PER YEAR ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE TO THE LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND LIVING ALONE. |

Mehr Licht. Mehr Licht.
To CEO ESB Pat O’Doherty,
I dwell in Plato’s cave
…with my back to the fire of life and my only knowledge of the life outside the many ESB vans, trucks and jeeps passing by to deal with latest meltdown of the ESB network near Lettermore Co Galway.
Yesterday. Saturday, June 5, Gorumna Island, Co Galway, specifically the region of Ballinakill suffered a repeat of the November 13, 2015 12 hour half power outage with, this time, a three hour 40 minute power outage (10.0 – 13.40hrs) on this entire island which the ESB Paulena/Paul Ahern initially denied was in fact happening. Older residents, living alone, accustomed to leaving their radios on all day to have some form of company, noted the silence. Cooking facilities were denied these suffering residents by ESB intransigence.
The definition of stupidity is repeating the same procedure endlessly and expecting a different result each time. This is the 56th power outage in Lettermore, Co Galway since August 2007. The ESB does not patrol or maintain the network and wait until their repair crews, earning €70,000 annually, replace failed transformers at the height of winter storms with attendant dangers.
I was advised not to contact the ESB, by concerned residents, who insist that the ESB have no interest in sparsely populated areas and that the ESB, according to retired members, care nothing about their paying customers.
