New Season Launch October 9th

category national | education | news report author Wednesday October 05, 2011 13:23author by Bill Doran - Knowledge Exchange Report this post to the editors

Evolutionary Biology, Music Improvisation and Learning

The new series of Knowledge Exchange lectures will open this Sunday at 12:30. Our first 'lecture' will be a collection of short talks. Come along, ask awkward questions, learn!
"Life & Evolution"
"Improvisation and Limits of Style"
"Genius is as common as dirt: What's wrong with education, and how to fix it"
"Hacking the Homunculus; a quick primer on modifying the human sensorium"

Knowledge is an open collective group that aims to bring education and learning to everyone. Our public spaces, parks, streets corners - in fact anywhere we can gather - should be places where we share everything we know with each other. In theory, anyone can use Wikipedia or the Public Libraries to design and follow their own curriculum BUT not everyone has the time or opportunity to do that. The more complex and abstract a field becomes, the more difficult it is to navigate and to find different perspectives on the same subject. If you have an idea for a lecture you'd like to give or one you'd like to see or you want to help organise, please contact us by email on info[at]knowledgeexchange.ie or on Facebook.

To help break through these obstacles and open learning to everyone Knowledge runs series of free public lectures. These short courses will be presented by volunteers with a background in and a passion for the given area. There are no barriers to taking part and the lectures will be free form, shaped as much by those who come as by the those giving them.

The new season will start Sunday 9th of October at 12.30pm, and run every Sunday until the 27th November @ Exchange Dublin. Everyone is welcome! If you want more information or if you would be interested in participating in the next season email: info@knowledgeexchange.ie

We'll start with a programme of short talks on life & evolution, improvisation, and the human sensorium. See the website for details http://www.knowledgeexchange.ie
