Participants Wanted!
Raise awareness and money for your group or any cause you want through the Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale. Named "Veg Event of the Year" by VegNews Magazine.
The story behind the Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale (WBS) is simple: Groups (or individuals) around the world hold vegan bake sales any time between 23 April and 1 May, 2011. Participating groups can do whatever they want with their proceeds; there is no central charity. Everything sold or given away must be vegan.
So simple, yet... The profusion of vegan bake sales throughout the world at about the same creates cameraderie among the participants and a buzz that attracts media attention - mainstrean and independent. Vegan bake sales combine fundraising, vegan outreach, and community; the WVBS magnifies the effect. At vegan bake sales, spontaneous discussions about veganism tend to be cordial and productive. Vegan bake sales are low-stress but effective.
Holding a bake sale may be easier than you think. The WVBS website has tons of tips: http://www.veganbakesale.org/veganbakesale/vbs-links-ba....html. Groups from Ireland have represented awesomely in all three years of the event.
If you can bake, you can bake vegan. The WVBS site has links to thousands of vegan baking recipes, and there are endless sites on the Net with vegan baking tips.
If it's not feasible to organize your own bake sale, you may want to check out the WVBS schedule and contribute to one already going on: http://www.veganbakesale.org/veganbakesale/vbs-where.html Even if you don't bake, bake sale organizers can always use help promoting, setting up, cleaning, up, and so forth.
