A Libyan living in Ireland writing on Facebook reports that funerals of 242 protesters, who were murdered by the regime, took place in Bengahzi today . "150, 000 pro-democratic demonstrators rally in the streets of the 2nd largest city of Libya and already, the hospitals are overwhelmed by the number of casualties who have been shot by those who are payed to be in charge of Law Enforcement in the city."

According to Reuters , security forces have pulled back to a high-walled compound, known as the Command Centre, from where they shoot at people : “a leading tribal figure who requested anonymity, suggested the security forces remained confined to their control centre.........The state's official presence is absent in the city and the security forces are in their barracks and the city is in a state of civil mutiny," he told Reuters. "People are running their own affairs."

The tribal leader told Reuters that, as on previous days, thousands of people were gathered near the northern Benghazi courthouse. He said they were chanting: "We want to bring down the regime ... Allahu Akbar!"
