Table Quiz to fundraise for the legal costs of anti-war activist Mary Kelly

The Independent Workers’ Union recently held a very successful Left Unity Table Quiz, which raised much needed funds for next year’s May Day parade. In light of this success, we would like to make it official that we will hold a second such quiz on Wednesday 3rd November in ‘An Spailpín Fánach at 9 PM.
On this occasion, the quiz will be raising funds to contribute to the legal costs of activist and union member, Mary Kelly in fighting the ongoing charges against her for her resistance to the US military presence in Shannon. It is very important that the left-wing community in Cork continues to show its strong opposition to US troops in Shannon and that we support Mary in her on going struggle. In doing this, we also hope to continue on from the good work started last June in promoting left unity in Cork.

The last quiz saw a large crowd attend Cork’s inaugural Left unity quiz. All shades of the left (and a few leftovers) in Cork, from deep green to blood red, loyal Trotskyites to devout Stalinists, free-spirited anarchists to committed Statists, came together for this unique event. We hope to see an even bigger turnout for the Left Wing Unity Quiz Mark II.
The Provisional price of participation is €5 per skull. Yet again we have a fabulous array of prizes and spot prizes that will keep our winning teams well fed, well read and well watered."
