This innovative course is designed for organisations wishing to integrate the principles of sustainable development in their work.
After this training course participants should be able to:
• Understand the terms sustainable development and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
• Understand the key principles of sustainable development
• Understand a whole organisation approach to sustainability
• Apply a diagnostic tool to assess how sustainable your organisation is
• Understand how to facilitate your organisation’s progress towards becoming a sustainable youth organisation
This training day will include activities designed to encourage staff, volunteers, young people and others to analyze and take action to improve their own organisation’s sustainability under a number of the seven themes:
1. Satisfaction of human needs by the efficient use of resources
2. Equity between generations
3. Respect for ecological integrity and biodiversity
4. Equity between countries and regions
5. Social equity
6. Respect for cultural heritage/diversity
7. Good decision-making
At the end of the training, participants will be able to bring both theories learned and practical supports, including a sustainability framework and a diagnostic tool, to their respective organisations.
This training provides an ideal basis for your youth organisation to start working towards achieving a Sustain it! Award for sustainable youth organisations.
