REPUBLICAN NETWORK for UNITY (RNU) Cathaoirleach/Chairperson, DANNY MCBREARTY, has expressed his concern about the Trial of the RAYTHEON 14 which began in Belfast this week asks, “Why the British State is prosecuting fourteen anti-war campaigners?
The Irish people have always challenged oppressive regimes and defended the rights of oppressed citizens and nations throughout the world. As such, RNU commend the positive actions of the 14 accused in exposing Raytheon who have helped build weapons to murder and maim innocent people in Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq. The Republican Network for Unity agree with the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign who stated, ‘that the directors and owners of Raytheon who should be before the courts, not those who acted to protect human lives’.
RNU call upon British prosecutors to withdraw these unlawful charges and allow the fourteen peace activists to remain free to oppose war criminals”.
