On October, during the last ALBA summit, the member countries of the alliance (Antigua & Barbuda, Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and Venezuela) stated their will to pursue at UN level the payment of an environmental debt of the developed and industrialized countries with the Global South. This proposal, while welcomed by environmental and global justice campaigners has sparked a lively debate in the face of the Copenhagen summit. What does actually mean the environmental debt and how does it articulate with an alternative vision of society
