Fight The Government Cuts Conference
Saturday June 20th
Unite Hall, Middle Abbey Street, Dublin 1, 2.00 – 5.00pm
The leaders of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions are in talks with the Fianna Fáil Government trying to reach agreement on a programme of savage cuts in living standards and social services, despite the expressed policy of many trade unions as agreed democratically at their congresses. Trade unions should be leading the fight against the cuts. There must be no division between workers in the public and private sectors. Unity is essential. It is property speculators, bankers and the other millionaires, who made for themselves during the period of the recent boom, that should be paying for the crisis in the public finances, not working people and their families.
The Conference on June 20th will be an opportunity for trade union activists, unemployed people and others to discuss an alternative strategy and to begin the fight-back. The Conference is being organised by a group of trade unionists from a variety of trade unions in both the public and private sectors. e-mail at reclaimtheunions@gmail.com
